Clifford Wise Middle School Celebrates Red Ribbon Week with Peace and Love
Medina’s Clifford Wise Middle School Celebrated Red Ribbon with a display of Peace and Love.
Art teacher, Judy Light, had the 7th grade students draw 3D words that completed the sentences “Peace is…” or “Peace is not…”. The students showed off their inspirations in the hallway near the computer room.
The 4th and 5th grade art students created pinwheels with peaceful colors on one side and words that express peace on the other side. The pinwheels were planted in front of the school for the day during the week and is known as the ‘Whirled Peace” installation.
The art pieces highlight the school’s “Love Yourself” project. Each student is tracing their closed palm onto red paper and cutting it out. Then in the center of their palm, students are writing a complimentary word about themselves. They will be incorporated into another project that Mrs. Light and the student council representatives from all grades will create by placing them into paper hearts for each of the grades. There will be a special quote about caring for and loving one’s self in the center of each heart. The school’s message will hopefully carry on for the rest of the school year.
