Giving back to the community is part of a yearly tradition in Participation in Government classes at Medina Jr-Sr High School.  Taught by Todd Bensley and Jennifer Ossont, students are required to do ten hours of community service with one organization so they can get a good understanding of what these organizations do and hopefully inspire the love of serving the community that will carry into their adult years. Once their service is completed, students will prepare a presentation of their experiences for class.

On Wednesday, September 20th, a Community Service Fair was held in the cafeteria for students to learn more about the organizations that they can volunteer for. “We had a great number of community organizations take part in our Community Service Fair,” says Ossont.  “It was great to see the students interact with community members and connecting with events and groups that they are interested in working with.”  Bensley adds, “We were very excited to have ten non-profit organizations join us for the fair.  The representatives from organizations always appreciate being able to connect with the students.”  He also encourages anyone from a non-profit organization who would like to be added to next year’s event, to contact him by email tbensley@medinacsd.org.
