P-EBT UPDATE 4/29/2022

The Medina CSD is aware that some families, who may be eligible for P-EBT benefits for the 2020-2021 school year, may still not have received their benefit allocation.  As per a phone call with NYSED Child Nutrition this morning, here is where the process stands as of today:

  • The first round of distribution based upon school learning type for 2020-2021 (in-person, hybid, or fully remote) reported to the NYS Department of Health and free/reduced lunch eligibily has been completed.
  • The next round of distribution, based upon individual student attendance data, has just begun.  In this round, the Office of Temporary Disability Assistance (OTDA) will look at each individual student's attendance and learning type (in-person, hybrid or fully remote) for 2020-2021 to determine if a student is eligible to recieve benefits. This will catch students who may have chosen to be fully remote even though their school was providing in-person instruction.

It is important to note, per the NYSED representative, "this will be a months long process" as OTDA is looking at every single student in New York State and that "not all students will be eligible to receive benefits."

NYS Child Nutrition and the OTDA  are working with each other to resolve conflicting information being shared by the OTDA call center.  They are hoping to have this issue taken care as soon as possible.
