Welcome to the High School Clinic:
Hello, I’m Mrs. Arendt, RN and I’m currently completing my 25th year as the High School Nurse. I have enjoyed this specialized nursing career, and have seen the needs of my students change drastically over the years. A few years ago another grade level (8th grade) was added to my responsibility and that has added an additional work load to an already heavy caseload.
I was born in Medina and have lived most of my life in the Gasport area. I received my Registered Nursing degree from NCCC and graduated from Royalton Hartland High School. My background in Nursing was working in the Emergency Department at Medina Hospital prior to working here in the school district. That was certainly a great preparation for this job as quick and solid decisions need to be made in the case of emergency situations.
I have always felt that a student’s handling of their medical needs and learning about their bodies will have a lifelong impact on how they handle the world and their careers once they leave the High School setting. Topics such as daily attendance and coping with medical situations will have an impact on their long-term success in the workplace and future endeavors. Much of my clinic work has been to educate the students towards these goals.
I am married and have had the pleasure of traveling around the country with my husband, much of it by motorcycle which is our favorite hobby. I have 3 daughters and 10 grandchildren, who keep me young and in-touch with the younger generations.
