Be Organized: If you are organized, you will have what you need, when you need it. Use your school agenda to write down assignments and due dates. Most of our teachers require you use three ring binders for classes. I would add that using paper folders for class work can help you keep track of your assignments. Have a friend in each class that you can call to clarify an assignment or find out what you missed if you were absent. Keep you locker and book bag neat. Take an extra minute to put things in their proper place. Finally, get all your school materials organized and ready before you go to bed. This will help you start your day off a little better.
Manage Your Time Well: With good time management, you have time for the things you have to do, and you still have time for the things you want to do. Use your class time and study halls to get your assignments done, ask questions, or to get help.
Be Successful in the Classroom: Be in school and on time every day. The average students should miss no more than five or six days a year. Learn to adapt. Each classroom is a little different. Know the differences and adjust accordingly. Be prepared for each class. Always do your homework. Participate in class. Be a good member of a group if you are working with other students. Treat others with courtesy and respect.
Take Good Notes: Tests usually cover material thats been presented in class. It is, therefore, important to have good notes from which you can study. When taking notes use a highlighter to help important notes stand out. Go over your notes as soon as possible to clarify their meaning. Get copies of class notes if you are absent.
These few tips can really make a difference in your experience in school and give you a foundation for forty years of success.
